RE: 3,722 miles later

Yup! Hybrids are grand. We traveled 3200 miles round trip (3 weeks) from Lincoln to the tip of Cape Cod, then turned around 2 weeks later and went 1700 miles (2-1/2 weeks) to Lake Superior. Plenty of room whether turtled or expanded for 3 adults, 2 kids and a dog. I also ran the refrigerator while traveling. The first time I have tried it and it worked great! It allowed us to stop in rest areas and overnight without worrying about electricity.
Next year we are looking at Colorado, a shorter trip for me. Ah-h-h, as no one else can drive.

RE: post pictures of your HTT

Our camp at Lake Superior. My daughter who is visiting from Wales was in the tent. Lots of fun.

RE: Have you had Front Bunk End Water Leaks!!!!

Jayco 19H--no
Jayco 23B--yes. Dealer caulked in April. Leaked again in July. Will be taking it back.

We also use the fan when neighbors are too noisy when we are trying to sleep.

RE: queen bed cushions on dinette in 23B

Are you placing the cushions so they are perpindicular to the front wall? Ours stays fine and we sleep on it every night. We do put a fitted sheet on to keep the cushions clean.
Dave
Now I hadn't thought of that! :p Sounds like something I'll try. Thanks!
I also thought of using Velcro in some way, but decided against it.
And I agree with supports under the bed/table to support the additional weight.

queen bed cushions on dinette in 23B

Good evening-
I'm having trouble keeping the various cushions that make up the bed on the dinette in my Jayco 23B together. I've been traveling this summer with more company than in the past and find myself needing the additional space for sleeping. The cushions are separating even with a queen fitted sheet over them. It makes for uncomfortable sleeping. Does anyone have a fix for this problem?

RE: Fresh H2O

I think that the hot water is so hot because there is so little of it. A little goes a long way, especially when rinsing kids off under the outdoor shower. We just need to be careful of the mix and test it prior to putting a child in/under it. To my knowledge, there is no way in my camper to regulate the temperature of the hot water tank.

RE: Fresh H2O

Well, sir, I know it is each to his/her own.
Personally, I like the convenience of using the water tanks for everything. I like my well water from home and fill up the fresh water tank with it, using it for everything from making ice to making coffee. I suppose I would bring along fresh water when traveling once the water lines have been winterized.
As far as the black and grey tanks are concerned, I've never had any problems using them for the purpose for which they are named.
I like to keep things simple and streamline as much as possible. Just my thoughts.

RE: need to know more about solar blankets and Wheel Stop Chock

If you have ever taken a snooze in the afternoon when the sun is beating down on the bunkends and put your hand against the canvas, you will feel heat radiating from above. Put on the PUGS and the difference is incredible.
I have never flipped them from day to night, but I have from one day to the next when there is a great temperature difference. They work great!

RE: Chocks for Jayco 19H

When I had my 19H, I used the plastic wedgie thingeys. Too much rockin'. Since then, I use Rotochoks and absolutely love them with the 23B. Kind of pricey, but then again, isn't everything?

It's never too late to make a trade. I did after 1 year when I knew that the 19B was not going to work like I was hoping it would.

RE: Towing w/ SUV

The only time that I have towed without sway control/WDH is when moving the HTT around the yard. Just great to have the peace of mind on trips, especially when family members are traveling with me.

RE: Nasty topic

We just got back from a trip to pick up my Grandson from CT for the summer. We went by way of Cape Cod and camped along the National Seashore en route. What a great area of the country, one that I had never seen before. But...we are seriously considering flying him out here next year due to the cost of gas.

RE: Jayco Jayfeather 19H Help

In 2006, I bought a new 2006 Jayco 19H for $14000. I agree with those above. The asking price for the unit that you are looking at, is extremely high. Consider that it has been left out for the intervening years as well.
You may think that you can tow this with your Toyota and you may be able to for short distances at a low speed, but if you plan to travel very far or on highways, or get into a strong crosswind, I believe that you will be very concerned. Also, add in the weight of the additional equipment that you will want to keep on board.
Just my opinions

RE: DirecTV analog dish + HD DVR receiver

I appreciate the responses. You're right, I don't expect to receive HD, but some channels are better than static when camping in remote areas.
Yeah, it would be a lot easier to get another receiver but it is down at the bottom of my list.
Thanks all

RE: DirecTV analog dish + HD DVR receiver

The new receiver will work with a one, two or three lnb dish
Hmmmm. And how would I tell what lnb it is. It is identicaL to the old round dish that I had up until December.

DirecTV analog dish + HD DVR receiver

Hello, everyone-
I'm a regular DirecTV subscriber. Last summer I bought an additional dish/tripod etc. to take along on our camping trips. Since then I have gone the HD route and upgraded to an HD/DVR receiver. My question pertains to whether the new receiver will still work with the old dish and is there anything that I need to be aware of? DirecTV told me it would cost $5/month to keep the old receiver activated, but why if the new receiver will work. I understand that I will not receive HD reception.
Also, would this setup work after February of next year.

RE: Overnight between London and Hamilton, Ontario

There are also the Canadian equivilant of rest stops every fify miles or so along the 401.
Plenty of big rig parking and resturants, fuel etc.
We were looking for these last year as we came across and did not see any. What should we be looking for while traveling to take advantage of these areas?
